Whale Watching

One of the most exciting pastimes in Point Roberts, Washington has got to be whale watching. For many decades now, people from around the world have come to this region for some spectacular displays put on by Orca Whales.

If you have never been whale watching in Point Roberts, Washington then you don’t know what you are missing. Every year during the summer months, several pods of Orca Whales can be seen from the shores. One of the area’s best places to catch a glimpse of the whales is the Lighthouse Marine Park.

Located at 811 Marine Dr, Point Roberts, WA 98281, this recreational park has something for everyone. But one of the main reasons people flock to this area is the whales. Centrally located in the heart of Orca country, during the summer months you will find dozens of people setting up camera equipment in hopes of catching these animals on film.

This 21 acre park has plenty of room to view the whales and if you decide to stay for the night they have 30 tent sites that cost less than $10 to rent. So if you are looking for a unique whale watching experience then this is the place for you.

One of the reasons so many people enjoy whale watching from the shores of this park is because it doesn’t disturb the animals. So you get to see more behaviors and the whales stick around much longer than they would compare to having people viewing them in a boat. This land-based approach to whale watching has been the area’s claim to fame for my decades.

So if you have never had the pleasure of watching whales before and you are in the Point Roberts area, then it is highly recommended that you check them out. But remember the summer months are the best time to see these amazing creatures.
